Accessibility to military exchanges
The Department of Defense has announced plans to increase access to military exchanges for civilians. By mid-October, DOD and Coast Guard civilian employees will be able to shop at military exchanges in the United States, its territories, and its possessions. In addition, DOD and Coast Guard employees will be able to access online exchanges. However, this access will not include purchases of military uniforms or tobacco products.
By 2020, more than three million people will be able to access the commissary and military exchanges. These individuals include service-connected disabled Veterans, Purple Heart recipients, former prisoners of war, and primary caregivers. According to federal officials, these new services will provide more convenience to Veterans. They will also grant them access to DoD and Coast Guard installations and their morale and recreation facilities.
Registration for Military Star Card
The MILITARY STAR Card is a line of credit that allows military personnel and their families to make purchases. The program offers ongoing discounts and promotional 0% interest offers, and offers a way to build credit while serving in the military. Once you have completed your active duty, the card will be cancelled and you will no longer have access to it. It also comes with rewards points, which can be used at certain locations. However, you should keep in mind that the points are not earned for every purchase, and late payments will have a negative impact on your credit score.
The MILITARY STAR card can also be used to purchase vacation packages. You must be a US military member or a civilian employee working for the US military to be eligible. To qualify, you must work 20 hours a week exclusively for the US Forces, have an active Military Star Card account, and be in good standing. Your account must be free of past due payments.
